Also known as the theory of the five movements (Wu Xing), the theory of the five elements must be placed in the context of ancient China. Based on the cycles of nature, the ancients subdivided everything that surrounds us and makes us up into five large, interdependent groups: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water.
These are five phases of a single cycle. It is an analytical framework that was then applied to a variety of phenomena. Thus, everything was classified under the symbols of the five elements in immense correspondence tables: the seasons, colors, flavors, feelings, different parts of the body, organs, tissues, and their periods of maximum activity and dynamism at certain times of the year—what we now call "biological rhythms."
At Nuence-MTC, each treatment is formulated to accompany the body in its seasonal movements, respecting the specific needs of the skin at each stage of the natural cycle. Following the principles of the 5 elements, we offer adapted and preventive cosmetics, which act in synergy with the other internal functions of the body.
NUENCE AND THE ELEMENTS
Nuence MTC and the WOOD element
In traditional Chinese medicine, the WOOD element represents spring, the growth that asserts itself at the beginning of a cycle.
-Associated organ: Liver
-Emotion: Anger, frustration
-Function: Qi circulation, detoxification
-Skin: Combination to oily skin, hormonal imbalances, blemishes. Oily skin, linked to the body's overproduction of sebum, is a manifestation of the imbalances that occur at this time of year and life (hormonal imbalances of puberty).
With Nuence MTC, give your skin balance and harmony to the rhythm of the seasons.
Nuence MTC and the FIRE element
In traditional Chinese medicine, the FIRE element represents summer, a period of intense activity in our bodies.
-Associated organ: Heart
-Emotion: Joy, restlessness
-Function: Blood circulation, expression of Shen (spirit)
-Skin: Sensitive skin, redness, heat, inflammation. FIRE is associated with the South, heat, and the sun, which must be protected from the harmful effects on the skin (sunburn, burns, redness).
Summer is expansive. Fire invites us to shine, but can also overheat. The skin needs freshness, lightness, and protection to maintain its radiance without becoming inflamed.
With Nuence MTC, give your skin balance and harmony to the rhythm of the seasons.
Nuence MTC and the EARTH element
In traditional Chinese medicine, the EARTH element represents the interseason, a period of energy change when the body eliminates toxins and prepares for the start of the next cycle.
-Associated organ: Spleen
-Emotion: Rumination, worry
-Function: Transformation, assimilation
-Skin: Dehydrated skin lacking tone.
Earth is the center. It digests and stabilizes. This is the time to nourish, hydrate, and balance the skin, especially after the excesses of summer.
With Nuence MTC, offer your skin balance and harmony to the rhythm of the seasons.
Nuence MTC and the METAL element
In traditional Chinese medicine, the element METAL represents autumn, a time when the body's activity decreases in preparation for winter.
-Associated organ: Lung
-Emotion: Sadness, letting go
-Function: Breathing, protection
-Skin: The slowdown in energy manifests itself in the skin through a lack of hydration, but also a lack of radiance. The skin appears duller.
Autumn is a time of withdrawal. Metal invites us to breathe. It is the season of deep healing, ritual, and self-discovery.
With Nuence MTC, give your skin balance and harmony to the rhythm of the seasons.
Nuence MTC and the WATER element
In traditional Chinese medicine, the element WATER represents winter, the end of the cycle, a period when energy is at its lowest, awaiting the beginning of a new cycle.
-Associated organ: Kidneys
-Emotion: Fear, introspection
-Function: Energy reserve, regeneration
-Skin: Mature, tired skin, in need of repair.
Winter and the element WATER encourage us to slow down, restore, and preserve our resources. Winter skincare is rich, enveloping, and supports the skin's deep vitality.
With Nuence MTC, give your skin balance and harmony to the rhythm of the seasons.
