CENTELLA ASIATICA, A LEGENDARY PLANT IN ASIA

NUENCE - Centella Asiatica plante legendaire

Herbaceous plant of the Apiaceae family, native to Asia, Centella Asiatica is a semi-aquatic plant, also called Gotu Kola or tiger grass.

It is first mentioned in the historical 'Sushruta Samhita', one of the earliest Ayurvedic medical texts dating back to 300 AD. Used in traditional medicine to treat many diseases and conditions such as tuberculosis, arthritis , leprosy and other skin conditions, it has been the subject of experimental and clinical research which has shown its effectiveness in improving cognitive functions, cardiovascular health, skin regeneration and wound healing. It also helps treat chronic venous insufficiency and is recommended in the treatment of anxiety.

The benefits of centella asiatica are due to its nutritional composition rich in active compounds known for their beneficial effects in healing and aging of the skin. These active compounds are called triterpene compounds, the main ones of which are:

* madecassoside, known for its healing properties and its actions against inflammation,
* asiaticoside known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties,
* Asian acid which stimulates the production of collagen and thus promotes the reduction of pigmentation and the healing of wounds
* madecassic acid

In addition, Centella Asiatica contains flavonoids, vitamin, tannins and saponosides.

Thanks to its composition and its properties, Centella Asiatica is an excellent ingredient for oily or acne-prone skin. It is able to provide the level of hydration that the skin needs without making it oily.

For all these reasons, the NUENCE team has chosen to incorporate a Centella Asiatica decoction into its range dedicated to combination to oily skin: the range associated with the WOOD element.
